Why does my 1 TB drive show less than 1 TB?
Drive manufacturers use decimal units (1 TB = 1,000,000,000,000 bytes), but operating systems often display sizes in binary units (1 TiB = 1,099,511,627,776 bytes). A 1 TB drive appears as about 931 GiB in your operating system, which accounts for the discrepancy.
What is the difference between KB and KiB?
KB (kilobyte) is a decimal unit equal to 1,000 bytes. KiB (kibibyte) is a binary unit equal to 1,024 bytes. The IEC introduced binary prefixes (kibi, mebi, gibi, etc.) to eliminate this confusion, but both notations are still widely used.
How many gigabytes are in a terabyte?
