Calendar Days vs Business Days
Calendar Days include every single day on the calendar — Monday through Sunday, including all weekends and holidays. This is the standard way to count days.
Business Days (also called working days or weekdays) only count Monday through Friday, excluding all weekends. This is commonly used in business contexts, such as:
- Contract terms ("net 30 business days")
- Project deadlines and timelines
- Shipping and delivery estimates
- Payment processing windows
- Service level agreements (SLAs)
When you enable "Exclude holidays," the calculator will also subtract any holidays that fall within the date range, whether you're using calendar or business day mode.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between calendar days and business days?
Calendar days include every day of the week, including weekends. Business days only count weekdays (Monday through Friday), excluding weekends. Business days are commonly used in contracts and business agreements.
How are holidays handled in the calculation?
When you enable "Exclude holidays" and select a country, the calculator uses a predefined list of major public holidays for that country. Any holidays that fall within your date range are subtracted from the total. You can also enter custom holiday dates.
Does the calculator count the start and end dates?
The calculator counts the number of days between the start and end dates, not including the start date but including the end date. For example, from Monday to Friday of the same week is 4 days.
Can I use this for calculating project deadlines?
Yes! For project planning, use the "Business Days" mode and enable holiday exclusions for your country. This gives you the most accurate count of actual working days available for your project.
What if a holiday falls on a weekend?
If you're using Business Days mode, weekends are already excluded, so a holiday on a weekend won't change the count. In Calendar Days mode, the holiday will be counted as one of the excluded days.
How accurate are the months and years conversions?
The weeks, months, and years shown are approximations. Weeks are calculated as days ÷ 7. Months use an average of 30.44 days per month. Years use 365.25 days per year to account for leap years. For exact calculations, always use the day count.
Is my data saved or sent to a server?
No. All calculations are performed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. No dates or personal information are sent to any server or stored anywhere.
